A Hierarchical Multicast Key Distribution Protocol

چکیده

In secure group communication, keys (GK) are used to ensure the confidentiality of communication. The key distribution (GKD) is responsible for updating and distributing new when membership changes. Most well-known GKD protocols based on a logical hierarchy (LKH), where only one controller (GC) used. These have various issues, including single point failure, meaning that GC often has huge workload can be easily overwhelmed. this paper, we propose hierarchical multicast protocol supports multi-level controllers manage group. Each just needs next-level nodes, if fails, superior replace it with minimal work. proposed effectively balances work controllers, greatly improves reliability distribution, also allows members build dynamic conferences without controllers. We provide security proof in symbolic model compare other terms efficiency, functionality, security.

Why Hierarchical Key Distribution Is Appropriate for Multicast Networks

The design rationale for many key distribution schemes for multicast networks are based on heuristic arguments on e ciency exi bility and scalability In most instances the choice of key server placement in a multicast network architecture is based on intuitive cryptographic considerations We use an analytical model of multicast group formation and network growth to look at the selection of a ke...

A Novel Dual-Key Management Protocol Based on a Hierarchical Multicast Infrastructure in Mobile Internet

This paper describes a secure multicast infrastructure for large-scale group communications in Mobile Internet and proposes a key management protocol based on the infrastructure. The multicast communication domain is logically divided into several administrative areas with a key server associated with each area. All the key servers participate in a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) as trusted ent...

A Lower Bound for Multicast Key Distribution

With the rapidly growing importance of multicast in the Internet there have been recent proposal, such as RFC 2627, for scalable key distribution such that when the nth user joins or leaves a group, broadcasting Θ(log n) encrypted messages is sufficient to redistribute keys. In this paper, we show that this bound is also necessary for a general class of key distribution schemes and under differ...

Engineering multicast group key distribution: a review

The complex software structures and procedures to establish multicast group key distribution are analyzed, with resulting performance timings and trial applications reported. Existing solutions for very-large scale group key distribution with a hierarchical virtual tree topology are engineered for commercial applications using a public key infrastructure and open source Java security libraries....
